When a place has already become part of your story, there’s something incredibly special about returning there to begin your next chapter.

For Grace, Italy was one of those places. Growing up in a military family meant calling many places home, and among them, Italy remained especially meaningful. When she and Rhys began planning their wedding, returning to Sorrento wasn’t simply about choosing a beautiful destination. It was about inviting the people they love to experience a place that had already shaped so much of her own story.

It was such an honor to document their wedding day at Villa Antiche Mura through film and digital photography, content creation, and Super 8 film, preserving not only how the celebration looked but how it felt. From quiet moments overlooking the Bay of Naples to the joyful energy that filled the dance floor later that evening, every part of the day deserved to be remembered in a timeless way.

Perched above the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean, Villa Antiche Mura provided the perfect backdrop for their destination wedding in Sorrento, Italy. Between the breathtaking views, lush lemon groves, and the warmth of Italian hospitality, every detail reflected why so many couples dream of celebrating their wedding along the Amalfi Coast.

One of the things I love most about destination weddings is watching people from different parts of the world come together, and Grace and Rhys’ wedding was a beautiful example of exactly that. Family and friends traveled from the United States, Wales, Italy, and beyond, creating a celebration filled with different cultures, traditions, and stories. Grace’s American family, Rhys’ Welsh roots, and the incredible team at Villa Antiche Mura blended together so naturally that by the end of the evening, it simply felt like one big family celebrating together.

From the very beginning of the day, it was clear that Grace and Rhys cared less about perfection and more about people. Grace carried herself with such calm confidence throughout the day, taking time to truly soak in conversations, hugs, and quiet moments with the people who had traveled so far to celebrate alongside them. Rhys brought an energy that was impossible to miss. Whether he was catching up with friends, making everyone laugh, or pulling someone onto the dance floor later that evening, he had a way of making everyone around him feel included.

Their love for travel has become such a defining part of their story together. One of my favorite portrait locations of the day was tucked beneath the lemon groves surrounding Villa Antiche Mura. Surrounded by hanging lemons and soft spring light, Grace and Rhys celebrated with their wedding party, completely embracing the joy of the day. Those moments felt so uniquely Italian and perfectly reflected the spirit of their celebration.

As guests gathered throughout cocktail hour, Aperol Spritzes, and Italian wine helped set the tone for the evening ahead. Live Italian music filled the terrace while guests enjoyed the stunning views overlooking the Bay of Naples. It wasn’t just the scenery that made the evening unforgettable, though. It was the conversations, laughter, and excitement shared between people who had traveled thousands of miles to celebrate Grace and Rhys together.

As the sun disappeared behind the coastline, the celebration shifted from elegant to unforgettable. The live band kept guests on their feet with classic wedding favorites before the DJ took over and transformed the reception into one giant celebration. Looking around the dance floor, there wasn’t a corner of the room standing still. Friends sang at the top of their lungs, family members danced together, and every generation joined in the fun. It was one of those receptions where you couldn’t help but smile as you watched everyone celebrate.

Those are always some of my favorite moments to photograph because they’re the moments couples remember most. Long after the timeline has ended and the formalities are over, it’s often the laughter, spontaneous dance circles, and joyful embraces that stay with you. Grace and Rhys created exactly that kind of celebration, one where every guest felt like they were part of something truly special.

Destination weddings are about so much more than beautiful views, although Sorrento certainly has no shortage of those. They’re about bringing your favorite people together in a meaningful place and creating memories that become part of your story forever. Grace and Rhys’ wedding was a beautiful reminder of exactly that, and I feel incredibly grateful to have documented every part of it through both photography and Super 8 film.
