When I look back at how I started, it almost feels surreal. I was young, clueless, but passionate about photography. After falling in love with photography at 13 and photography family friends, I got my BFA in photography from Parsons. During this time, I also started taking up projects with clients on my own and assisting many fashion and commercial photographers.
As time passed, I grew more confident in my abilities and started setting up my brand. I shifted away from fashion and commercial work, into weddings and portraits because I wanted to work with real people. I was nervous about taking up weddings, but nothing excited me more than the joy and love on a couple’s special day. I designed my website, planned my portfolio, and started branding my business.
Over the past few years, I have shot numerous weddings, each unique in its own way. I have met some incredible couples, families, and vendors who have taught me valuable lessons about life and work. In addition, I have honed my skills in various areas of photography, including portraits, commercial, and product photography.
And as of February, 2023 I FINALLY had the opportunity to commit full time to my photography – fulfilling a life long dream. Going full-time was a significant decision for me. It meant giving up a steady paycheck and taking on the full responsibility of running a business! However, I knew that I was ready and the moment was now.
As I celebrate my many years as a photographer, I am filled with gratitude for every opportunity that has come my way. All of those sessions brought me to today, when I can finally say photography is my entire life. I know that this journey is not over- there will be more challenges and lessons along the way- but I am ready to embrace them with open arms. For those brides out there (and anyone looking for updated portraits), I am excited to create beautiful memories for you to cherish for years to come. Thank you for reading my blog post, and I hope to hear from you soon.
